TATC's Commitment to Green

TATC has provided a variety of training and strategic planning services to organizations that support the mission of expanding green practices and education.  TATC is working with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to support its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program which encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.  LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

Michael Barber, Director of Organizational Development and Training and lead in managing our Green work, was invited to conduct a pre-conference workshop and a concurrent conference session on effective presentation skills at the RESNET Building Performance 2010 Conference.  RESNET’s mission is to ensure the success of the building energy performance certification industry, set the standards of quality, and increase the opportunity for ownership of high performance buildings.

Through our work with the U. S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, we are providing support to state and local workforce agencies in the development of green jobs and green career tracks related to the conservation and development of renewable energy sources.  As part of work, we are collecting resources and best practices to populate a website for workforce investment professionals.

Etta Williams, a senior consultant with TATC Consulting, is leading our company’s development and identification of resources for the creation of green jobs to support economy recovery in the United States.  She recently supported two national summer youth conferences sponsored by the Employment and Training Admonition in collaboration with other federal agencies such as the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency.  Ms. Williams highlighted green jobs creation and green career paths development in the workshops she facilitated.

At TATC, we are personally and professionally committed to increasing energy efficiency, reducing petroleum consumption, conserving water, and reducing waste.  We understand that going green is not just the responsible thing to do – going green can save money, increase efficiency, and improve our nation’s energy security.
