Cross-Occupational Training for Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP)

DHS and CBP evaluate managerial and supervisory employees on core competencies in communication, customer service, representing the agency, teamwork and cooperation, technical proficiency, assigning/monitoring/evaluating work, and leadership. Following CBP Directive 51430-003A on Performance Management, non supervisory employees are evaluated on core competencies of job knowledge, technical skills, professionalism, and working with others.  CBP did not have an agency-wide program to provide workforce development opportunities in the core competencies which are valid for staff in all positions at various levels across all CBP offices.

TATC and our partner, T.S. Marshall and Associates, were selected to provide training and instruction and course materials for cross-occupational courses for CBP/DHS employees.  Cross-occupational courses to be delivered nationwide include: Briefing and presentation skills and techniques; Writing with clarity by using critical thinking; Solving problems creatively and thinking outside the box; Managing multiple and competing deadlines and priorities; and Completed Staff Work and recommending effective, signature-ready solutions to managers and leaders.
