Professional Biographies

Brian Peters, Ed.D.

Director

Dr. Peters brings his more than 15 years of experience as a consultant, counselor, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) specialist to lead TATC Consulting’s Organizational Development practice. In this role, he has successfully managed more than 50 engagements for Federal government, non-profit, and private sector clients.

Dr. Peters has managed projects involving organizational assessments, executive coaching, group facilitation and team building, conflict prevention and resolution, and workplace violence prevention. Dr. Peters uses the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and other psychometric instruments to help supervisors and employees understand how normal personality differences influence team dynamics, people’s communication and conflict styles, problem-solving skills, and preferred work environments. He also uses standardized team development surveys to identify strengths and weaknesses of work groups, benchmark team progress, and strengthen team building efforts.

Dr. Peters has published in books and papers and presents regularly at professional conferences on topics such as group dynamics, working with employees and clients with psychiatric disabilities, and organizational stress.

Key Successes

  • Managed the design, development, and delivery of a successful national violence prevention program for staff and leadership
  • Managed and assisted in an organizational needs assessment and training program design and delivery to kick-off a new harassment policy and organizational effort to instill a culture of respect and high employee performance
  • Has provided leadership and executive coaching services to a wide variety of Federal government and private sector managers resulting in significant organizational change and skills development

Education

Dr. Peters earned his B.A. in Political Science and French from the University of Pittsburgh, his M.S.S.A. in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University, and his Ed.D. from George Washington University in Counseling/Human and Organizational Studies. He has also been trained as a Federal Workplace Mediator at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution.

Background

Prior to his work at TATC, Dr. Peters provided direct service to an in-patient and out-patient population in hospital settings and directed a community mental health clinic. Dr. Peters also currently serves on the faculty of the Department of Counseling/Human and Organizational Studies at The George Washington University where he teaches Theories of Psychology, Assessment in Counseling, and Group Dynamics.
