Brian J.Peters, Ed.D., M.S.S.A., LPC

Vice President

Dr. Brian J. Peters is a Vice President of TATC Consulting.  He has over 20 years of professional experience working as a consultant with federal agencies, universities, international business, and the behavioral health industry.  His extensive experience has earned him proficiency in a number of different fields, including executive coaching, organizational change and assessment, research and analysis, training design and delivery, and group facilitation and team building. 

Dr. Peters collects and analyzes information on various aspects of organizational culture including leadership, communication, diversity, planning, and innovation.  He has led and designed organization-wide survey administration, and facilitated feedback sessions with management, front-line workers, and unions.  Dr. Peters uses data collected to identify strengths and weaknesses of the organization, benchmark specific workplace variables, design customized training programs, and support comprehensive improvement initiatives. 

Dr. Peters has extensive experience in the design and delivery of training services to organizations in the areas of leadership, customer service, stress management, conflict and violence prevention, and numerous other areas that affect employee, supervisor, and overall organizational effectiveness.  He employs innovative instructional systems design, utilizing technical skills and learning theories to develop human performance and training solutions in a team environment.  Dr. Peters has designed, developed, and hosted numerous e-learning training programs on topics ranging from stress management to working with adults with psychiatric disabilities.

To help supervisors and employees understand how normal personality differences influence productivity, Dr. Peters utilizes the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the California Personality Inventory (CPI), and other psychometric instruments in his work.  His work with teams highlights team dynamics, communication and conflict styles, problem-solving skills, and customer service delivery methods.  Dr. Peters also uses standardized team and organizational assessment surveys to measure and improve team and organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction.   Having worked in the US and Europe with numerous international entities including the United Nations, Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and Grant Thornton, Dr. Peters is well-versed in the assessment and skill building of international teams. 

Dr. Peters recognizes that individuals who are in executive, managerial, and supervisory roles provide direction and vision, set the tone for the organization, and influence the strategic direction of the organization along with the general satisfaction level of employees.  The coaching services that Dr. Peters provides for leaders are designed to help them develop and fine-tune their leadership skills in order to maintain high performance. Dr. Peters’ underlying coaching philosophy is realistic, practical and results oriented. Dr. Peters recognizes that a leader’s time is valuable, and hence his coaching programs are concise and focused on helping them acquire leadership knowledge and skills linking goals to Executive Core Competencies.

Dr. Peters has published in books and papers, been invited as a guest on network television programs, and presents regularly at professional conferences on topics including but not limited to research in industry, organizational stress, group dynamics, leadership, and Resiliency.  He is a Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Counseling/Human and Organizational Studies at The George Washington University where he teaches Assessment, Group Dynamics, and Theories of Psychology. 

Dr. Peters earned his doctorate in Counseling/Human and Organizational Studies from The George Washington University, his Masters degree in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University, and his Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.  He has also been trained as a Federal Workplace Mediator at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution and has been certified by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) to administer and interpret all of the Center’s 360 degree instruments.
