Selected Examples of TATC Consulting’s Change Management Experience

Developed Communication and Training Plan to Overcome Staff Resistance to a New Technology System

TATC contracted with a federal agency to provide management consultation services to assist in developing a plan of action to implement a new computer system and revised business procedures and regulations. TATC worked with the agency’s steering committee to develop an action plan, design a communications plan, develop a training program for all staff, and monitor compliance.

Led an Organizational Restructuring Effort to Consolidate and Streamline Service Delivery

TATC contracted with the human resources department of a federal agency to assist in developing a response to the President’s Management Agenda to substantially reduce the duplication of effort found throughout the department.

The goal of the effort was to consolidate activities and take a “one department” approach to delivering common administrative services. TATC collaborated with the Human Resources department staff to assist with the change management aspects of consolidating the more than 1,200 staff members deployed in 40 personnel offices into four, consolidated divisions to improve service delivery, eliminate redundancies, and achieve significant cost savings.

Provided Change Management Support to Lead the Efforts of an Agency in Becoming a High Performance Organization

For a social services department of a state government agency, TATC designed and conducted a process improvement and strategic planning program across four offices. The goal of our work was to assist the agency in moving toward becoming what has been termed a “High Performance Organization” – one that delivers high product and service quality, outstanding customer value, and sound financial performance.

To accomplish this task we performed a comprehensive assessment and process mapping to look at lessons learned from the past and current process obstacles that could guide the agency’s transformation. Our consultants worked with both a management team and a process improvement team that was recruited to include different levels of the division’s staff. The teams met together at least once a month to present progress reports, keep the momentum going, and plan ways to seek input from other division staff and workgroups, other divisions, and other organizations in the form of benchmarking best practices. Throughout the program, TATC provided facilitation, consultation, and coaching to senior managers to address necessary changes.
