Selected Examples of TATC Consulting’s Training Experience
Provide all Management and Supervisory Skills Training for the 17,000-Person Staff of the U.S. Department of Labor
For the Office of Continuous Learning and Career Management of the U.S. Department of Labor, TATC designed, developed, and delivered supervisory and professional training for over 100 classes per year, at the national, regional and field levels, in over 20 different course subjects, training over 1500+ participants per year. In addition, we conducted training needs assessments; designed and delivered training programs, briefings, and seminars; facilitated sessions, provided organizational development services; and evaluated the training and related consultative programs to provide continuous input to program improvement.
Designed and Delivered a “Respect in the Work Place” Training Program Focused on Creating a Changed Workplace Climate
For the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), World Health Organization (WHO), of the United Nations (UN), TATC conducted a needs assessment and designed a half-day course on respect in the work place (diversity) for both managers and staff. We then delivered these courses to the entire PAHO workforce in the U.S., as well as selected overseas managers brought in to participate in the training sessions.
Delivered Training to States To Support Effective Use of the New National Emergency Grants Automated Application System
For the U.S. Department of Labor, TATC developed and delivered training for users of a new automated application system for National Emergency Grants. Users of the system are state and local government staff who are interested in applying for grants due to specific workforce-related emergencies in their communities. Working closely with the system developers, TATC developed and delivered a series of training sessions around the country.
Initiated a Workplace Violence Prevention Training Program
TATC contracted with a federal agency to gather information to integrate specific federal Workplace Violence Prevention and Response Program (WVPRP) details into an agency-wide training program, including: developing a Violence Prevention Handbook, standard operating procedures, procedure checklist, and training materials, including a train-the-trainer guide. We then designed, developed, and conducted a series of half-day WVPRP training sessions including: customized case studies based on consultation with agency personnel, practice scenarios customized to fit agency needs, and experiential activities using TATC’s proven adult learning techniques.
Enhanced the Customer Service Skills of the Staff of a Major Metropolitan Transit System
For the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), TATC designed a series of customized training sessions on customer service skills, including a half-day session for managers and supervisors, a one-day training for bus and train operators, and a two-day course in dealing with difficult people.
Supported the Growth and Development of Managers and Supervisors of a Utility Company
For the DC Water and Sewer Authority (DCWASA), TATC provided management and professional development training and consultation services. To support this effort, we conducted a needs assessment using focus groups and interviews to determine training needs. We then developed and delivered a two-day management skills training course and a three-day basic supervisory skills training course for new supervisors.
Helped Staff to Overcome Workplace Conflict through the Design and Delivery of a Diversity Training Program
For the Employment Standards Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor, TATC designed and delivered a series of training and coaching sessions to address diversity-related issues in the workplace. Based on interviews conducted with staff and senior managers at both the District and Regional office locations, TATC designed a customized course on diversity aimed at addressing long-standing issues. We also provided follow-up assessment and coaching at three- and six-months following the initial training sessions.
